Upon settling in our new city of Victoria, Canada after a long spell overseas, my young family was out for a walk together when we happened upon a green painted rock. It was painted like the Frankenstein monster and my (then) 3-year old daughter squeeled with joy.
Quickly, through a local Facebook group, we figured out that rock painting and hiding was a popular and wholesome activity that lots of people were joining in.
As a parent, it's truly rare to find a family pasttime as wholesome and fun as rock painting, hiding and hunting. Our family walks have us all eyeballing the ground for that exciting peek of colour from a rock someone else left to bring joy.
As for our Frankenstein rock, we left him in the brush near our local mall for some other lucky hunter to find.
Let's share our painted rocks together, in one place
We want to bring the rock painting community together in one place, to share their artworks, their excellent finds, and their stories of painted rock hunting.
Let's all get together and share our love of rock painting.
